Myrtle Lewin came to Atlanta in 1983 to teach mathematics at Agnes Scott College after living, studying and working in Wisconsin, England, Israel, and South Africa. She soon started planting trees, and has not stopped. After a nearly 50 year career in academia, she is now retired, doing largely Jewish environmental work. She leads the Greening Group at Ahavath Achim Synagogue, has coordinated the Tu B’Shvat tree planting in Atlanta for 9 years (where she has often planted with Rabbi Pamela Gottfried), and is thrilled to be part of JCAN-GA.
